WHAT’S NEW?

l TO r: President of Friends of the Pomona Public Library Gwen Robinson and Senior Librarian of Pomona Public Library Pat Lambert

THANK YOU DONORS! Businesses and individuals have rallied and demonstrated their support for the Pomona Public Library! Thank you.

Friends met the first goal on the Library wishlist – to provide $4,000.00 for purchase throughout this year for Best Sellers, fiction and non-fiction. These are highly popular and often have waiting lists. In addition they continue to be popular items for an extended period of time. The remainder of the funds $1,000.00 is earmarked for the processing and purchasing of additional Audio-Visual items. Early this year the AV materials were scheduled to be removed from the AV room and placed in the entry area of the Library. Friends purchased the shelving but moving of the materials was not completed until Sept. 4. Now the DVD movies and CD recorded books are easily accessible for checkout. Last year adults checked out over 88,000 library materials from the Pomona Public Library. Despite the cut in hours, we hope to see an increase in that number this year.

GOAL 32 ON THE WISHLIST
The next goal on the Library wishlist is $3,000.00 to be divided equally between purchase of
children’s books and purchase of magazine subscriptions. Last year Pomona children checked out almost 78,000 library materials. We want them to see new items every time they come and bring their friends. The Adopt-a-Magazine program provides magazine subscriptions about current events, food, travel, hobbies – a myriad of information. Many in today’s economic downturn have cancelled their home subscriptions. The Library should be the place to go to keep up on their interests.

We hope you will show your support for Pomona Public Library.
